AIRSTREAM

One weekend in the spring of 2003, hundreds of airstream trailers appeared at a convention in Essex, Vermont. I snapped one trailer in the reflection of another. When I printed this one I was surprised and delighted to find it had morphed into a character.

TRUCK AT SUNSET

One evening at sunset I found this truck parked along the shores of Lake Champlain, near Burlington, Vermont.

This image won best in professional class in a photo contest given by the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum in 2003

The circus rolled into Greenport, Long Island, during the summer of 2000. Very early one foggy morning I got this colorful geometric image.

B&W CAROUSEL HORSE

I have loved carousel horses ever since I was a child in NYC, where I was thrilled to be able to ride the beautiful Stein & Goldstein animals in Central Park. When my children were very little we lived in Brooklyn, NY, close enough to Prospect Park that we could ride the beautifully restored Charles Carmel horses over and over again. When we discovered Greenport, NY we were all thrilled to find an antique carousel with horses carved in the 1920's by Allen Hershell of Tonawanda NY. Later, when we moved to Vermont, we found more Hershell horses in a working carousel at the Shelburne Museum, Shelburne, Vermont, only 20 minutes from home.
This beautiful Hershell horse is from the Greenport Carousel

STACKED CAROUSEL HORSES

The town of Greenport built a beautiful new waterfont home for its carousel. The evening before the horses were moved, they were lined up just outside the new glass and steel building. I caught them in the last rays of sunset.

CARVED HORSE

I bought this beautiful wooden horse from India at a store in Santa Fe. Placed against the cadmium red wall of my dining room, she shines.

FRENCH CATTLE

One overcast evening in Le Gers, in the southwest of France I found these bovines waiting for the rain. Or for dinner.
